TED | Birke Baehr: What’s Wrong With Our Food System

There is a movement…

A while back I wanted to be a professional football player. I’ve decided I want to be an organic farmer instead. And that way I can have a greater impact on the world.

We can all make a difference, by making different choices.

Some people say organic or local food is more expensive. Is it really? With all these things I’ve been learning about the “food system,” it seems to me that we could either pay the farmer or we can pay the hospital.

I believe that kids will eat good food and fresh vegetables if they learn more about it and where it really comes from.

That’s how we can make a difference, one kid at a time.

Next time you’re at the grocery store, think local, choose organic, choose your farm, and choose your food.

This talk is brilliant on so many levels: food, culture, youth, education… Ah, how many more “Birke’s” are there, and how can we continually cultivate this brilliance?!
